Putu is cookie made with wooden mold. Putu kachang is slightly sweet and melts in the mouth. Serve with coffee or tea.

400gm moong dhal
300gm granulated sugar;set 3 tablespoon aside
a little water
sufficient water to soak


Method of preparation:

Soak moong dhal in a pot overnight. Drain. Dry well in the sun. Next dry roast the dried moong dhal. Let it cool. Then remove the skin of the dhal. Finely grind the roasted dhal. In a bowl combine the ground moong dhal and sugar. Sprinkle a few drops of water. Mix well. Make sure the mixture is still powdery. Sprinkle some sugar(from the set aside) lightly into the putu mold. Pack the mold with the dhal mixture. Compress till it is compacted. Invert mold and tap. The molded putu kachang will fall out. Pick gently and place in a dry tray and leave out in the sun till it hardens. Store in an airtight container. Serve with coffee or tea.
